All 43 official topics are available. Each MCQ bank contains 42 original questions and each FRQ bank contains four prompts aligned to the four current free-response task types.
Displacement, Velocity & Acceleration FRQ Set
Write a complete response before opening the reasoning guide. The four prompts deliberately use different response modes.
A cart moves from x = −5 m to x = +19 m in 6 s. Its velocity changes from −2 m/s to +10 m/s over the same interval. Calculate displacement, average velocity, and average acceleration, with signs and units.
Reasoning and scoring guide
Δx = 24 m; v̄ = 24/6 = +4 m/s; ā = (10 − (−2))/6 = +2 m/s².
A written description says an object moves toward +x while slowing, momentarily stops, then moves toward −x while speeding up. State the signs of velocity and acceleration before, at, and after the turnaround.
Reasoning and scoring guide
Before: v > 0 and a < 0. At the instant: v = 0 while a can remain < 0. After: v < 0 and a < 0, so speed increases.
Using a motion sensor and cart, design a procedure to determine average velocity over a chosen interval and average acceleration over the same interval without relying on a graph slope.
Reasoning and scoring guide
Measure initial/final positions and velocities at two times. Compute Δx/Δt and Δv/Δt. Repeat trials and define the positive direction before collecting data.
A runner completes one lap and returns to the starting point in 50 s while traveling 200 m. Compare distance, displacement, average speed, and average velocity.
Reasoning and scoring guide
Distance = 200 m, displacement = 0, average speed = 4 m/s, average velocity = 0 m/s. The scalar path length remains nonzero even though net vector change in position is zero.
