AP Physics C Mechanics FRQ Practice 2027: 164 Questions
Four original free-response questions for every topic, aligned to the four current task types and paired with response workspaces, saved attempts and transparent self-grading.

Every topic includes MR, TBR, Experimental Design & Analysis, and QQT. Write the response before opening the rubric.

Why the self-grader is transparent
The grader does not assign an opaque machine score to physics prose. It checks for potentially relevant evidence terms, then reveals the actual practice-rubric checkpoints. You decide whether your written response satisfies each checkpoint and receive a 0–10 practice score plus the missed evidence categories.

AP Physics C: Mechanics free-response preparation by task type
The May 2027 Mechanics FRQ section has four questions in 95 minutes and is worth 50% of the exam. Tasks include mathematical routines, translation between representations, experimental design and analysis, and qualitative/quantitative translation. Mechanics requires calculus-based equations with initial conditions, not simply applying memorized constant-acceleration formulas everywhere.
Worked derivation: variable force
A particle moves along x under F(x)=kx, with k constant and units N/m. From x=0 to x=L, the work done is W=∫₀ᴸkx dx=(1/2)kL². If it starts from rest with negligible losses, (1/2)mv²=(1/2)kL², giving speed v=L√(k/m). State that x is measured from the model’s zero-force point. If the force is restoring (F=−kx), work over an outward displacement has opposite sign.
Experimental design
To estimate spring stiffness, measure restoring-force magnitude versus extension across several trials. Fit the linear region, interpret the force–extension slope as k, and discuss uncertainties such as zero-point calibration and hysteresis. A force–extension graph is more informative than one isolated measurement.
For graded practice, identify the governing law, specify relevant system boundaries, derive symbolically before substitution, and state units and physical direction.
