How much should you tip for a delivery?
There is no single compulsory percentage for every delivery. A transparent planner can consider the order subtotal, distance, a chosen minimum and unusual effort such as severe weather, heavy items, stairs or a long merchant wait. The calculator shows each addition so the user controls the recommendation.
Percentage versus distance
A percentage responds to order value, while distance responds to time and vehicle use. The “higher of” mode compares both without claiming that either method is an official platform rule.
Driver tip-income organizer
Driver mode totals tips received and organizes either mileage-rate planning or actual entered expenses. The tax-reserve percentage is entirely user-entered and is not a tax calculation. Eligibility, substantiation and tax treatment depend on current law and individual circumstances.
Do Dashers receive customer tips?
DoorDash says Dashers receive 100% of customer tips on top of base pay and promotions.
Is a delivery tip calculated before or after fees?
This calculator intentionally uses the entered food-and-item subtotal. It does not automatically apply delivery fees, service fees or tax to a percentage tip.
Is the driver reserve a tax estimate?
No. It is only a user-controlled planning reserve. It does not calculate income tax, self-employment tax or deductible eligibility.
