AP Physics 2 FRQ Self-Grader
Score the evidence in your own free-response work instead of judging it by whether the final number looks right. Choose the exact topic and FRQ mode, complete the 12-point evidence rubric, then use the diagnostic to decide what to repair before another attempt.
How should you self-grade an AP Physics 2 FRQ?
Grade the reasoning evidence, not only the final answer. A strong response identifies the governing model, defines variables and signs, builds the required representation, carries symbolic or quantitative reasoning consistently, uses units and evidence correctly, and explicitly connects the physics to the conclusion.
Grade one response at a time
The selected topic changes the repair links. The FRQ mode changes two mode-specific checks so the rubric stays relevant to the task you actually attempted.
Build the response before scoring it
Check only evidence that is actually visible in your written response. Do not award credit for reasoning you intended but did not communicate.
What changes in the rubric
The core physics checks stay constant; the last two checks adapt to the action demanded by the selected task.
Mathematical Routines
Look for a justified equation path, symbolic dependence, correct substitution and a physically checked result.
Translation Between Representations
Check that the diagram, graph, table, equation and verbal claim tell one consistent physical story.
Experimental Design & Analysis
Require measurable variables, controls, repeated data, graph choice, uncertainty and a criterion for supporting the model.
Qualitative / Quantitative
Make the prediction before calculation, then show the factor, ratio or relationship that supports it.
The purpose is to expose missing evidence. If you check a box only because you now know what the rubric wanted, revise the response and attempt a fresh prompt later.
FRQ self-grading questions
Is 12/12 the same as an official FRQ score?
No. This is an independent evidence rubric for study. It measures whether your response contains the reasoning features that strong physics work needs; it is not an official conversion.
Should a correct final number get full credit?
No. A correct number can come from an unsupported equation or inconsistent reasoning. Grade the model, representation, derivation, units and justification as separate evidence.
What if the prompt does not require a graph?
Interpret the representation checks according to what the task actually requests. A complete equation, diagram, circuit or table can be the relevant representation.
How should I use a low score?
Follow the diagnostic. Repair the weakest evidence category in the exact lesson or topic bank, then answer a different FRQ without looking at the previous guide.
Does the grader read my response automatically?
No. You score your own visible evidence using the checklist. This avoids pretending that a browser checklist can reliably interpret handwritten physics reasoning.
Are my checks uploaded?
No server submission is used. When local storage is available, the browser can remember the rubric for the selected topic and FRQ mode on that device.
