AP Physics 2 30‑Day Study Plan 2027
This 30-day plan assigns every AP Physics 2 topic to a specific study block and reserves the final three days for a full model exam, targeted repair and light closure. Each day combines model recall, representation work, targeted practice and error correction instead of passive rereading.
Can you review AP Physics 2 in 30 days?
Yes—if the month is used for targeted repair and mixed practice rather than equal rereading. The plan below touches all 46 topics, concentrates more days on the larger electricity/circuits/waves blocks, includes experimental reasoning, and moves into full-course simulation only after the unit repair phase.
Add your own start date
The study tasks do not change, but adding a date makes the plan easier to execute. Your start date and completed-day progress are stored only in this browser.
Complete all 30 study blocks
Mark a day complete only after correction. Reading a lesson without attempting or correcting practice is not a completed study block.
Baseline diagnostic + setup
Take a mixed diagnostic, score by unit and create an error log. Do not spend the day relearning everything; use the result to mark high-priority topics.
Thermodynamics: particles + gas state
Topics 9.1–9.2: connect microscopic particle motion to pressure and temperature, then use the ideal-gas model with absolute temperature.
Thermodynamics: transfer + first law
Topics 9.3–9.4: thermal equilibrium, heat transfer, internal energy, work and first-law sign conventions.
Thermodynamics: materials + entropy
Topics 9.5–9.6: specific heat, conduction, entropy and the second law. End with one P–V or calorimetry evidence task.
Electric interactions: charge + force
Topics 10.1–10.2: charge conservation, charging processes and Coulomb-force direction/magnitude.
Electric fields + potential energy
Topics 10.3–10.4: distinguish the vector field from configuration energy and translate among field diagrams, force and work.
Potential + capacitors
Topics 10.5–10.6: scalar electric potential, potential difference, capacitance and stored field energy.
Electric-energy conservation + Unit 10 check
Topic 10.7 plus mixed Unit 10 MCQs/one FRQ. Repair field-versus-potential confusion before moving on.
Circuits: current + simple networks
Topics 11.1–11.2: current as charge-flow rate, potential differences and true series/parallel node structure.
Resistance + power
Topics 11.3–11.4: resistance/resistivity, Ohm-style behavior, I–V graphs and electrical power.
Compound DC circuits
Topic 11.5: reduce only genuine series/parallel subsets and track how changes affect current, voltage and power.
Kirchhoff conservation
Topics 11.6–11.7: loop energy conservation and junction charge conservation. Write signs from a declared traversal direction.
RC circuits + circuit evidence
Topic 11.8: charging/discharging, time constant and exponential graphs. Finish with a circuit/RC lab or FRQ.
Magnetic fields + moving charges
Topics 12.1–12.2: field representation, force direction, charge sign and circular-path reasoning.
Current-carrying wires
Topic 12.3: force on wires, current direction, magnetic moment/torque and field interaction.
Induction + Unit 12 check
Topic 12.4: magnetic flux, Faraday/Lenz reasoning and induced-current direction. End with one induction evidence task.
Reflection + mirrors
Topics 13.1–13.2: law of reflection, principal rays, real/virtual images, mirror equation and magnification.
Refraction
Topic 13.3: Snell’s law, normal-line angle convention, critical angle and refractive-index reasoning.
Lenses + optics evidence
Topic 13.4 plus one ray/measurement task. Require the ray diagram and equation to agree on image type and location.
Wave foundations
Topics 14.1–14.3: pulses, periodic waves, boundary behavior, wavelength/frequency/speed and polarization.
EM waves + Doppler effect
Topics 14.4–14.5: electromagnetic-wave properties and observed frequency shifts. State the source/observer model clearly.
Interference + diffraction
Topics 14.6–14.7: superposition, standing waves, nodes/antinodes and aperture/obstacle diffraction.
Double slit + thin films
Topics 14.8–14.9: path difference, fringe geometry, gratings and reflection phase changes in thin films.
Quantum models + Bohr atom
Topics 15.1–15.2: photon/matter-wave models and discrete energy states. Know what the Bohr model can and cannot explain.
Spectra + blackbody radiation
Topics 15.3–15.4: energy-level transitions, emission/absorption spectra, temperature-dependent radiation and peak wavelength.
Photoelectric + Compton
Topics 15.5–15.6: distinguish photon energy from intensity, threshold behavior and photon momentum transfer.
Nuclear physics + Unit 15 check
Topics 15.7–15.8: mass–energy, fission/fusion and half-life/exponential population decay in 15.7; alpha/beta/gamma bookkeeping in 15.8.
Full model exam #1
Run one complete 42-MCQ/4-FRQ model under realistic section timing. Score by unit and by error type before reviewing explanations.
Targeted repair + FRQ evidence
Repair only the two or three highest-value weaknesses from Day 28, then complete at least two FRQ modes and self-grade the evidence.
Final mixed check + light closure
Use one shorter mixed set, review equation meanings/units and close the error log. Avoid starting a new major topic at the end of the plan.
What to do inside each 90–150 minute block
Use this structure unless the day is explicitly a full model exam.
Retrieve
Without notes, define the model, sketch the representation and write the governing relationships with units.
Repair
Open only the assigned lesson(s). Work the physical examples and resolve any prerequisite definition that is still fuzzy.
Practice
Use focused MCQs or one FRQ mode. Commit to a response before revealing feedback or scoring evidence.
Correct
Write the cause of the miss, the correct cue/model and one future retest condition in the error log.
Do not double every task
- Keep the highest-priority assigned topic.
- Merge retrieval with the next day, not the entire practice load.
- Move optional extra problems to Day 29 repair.
- Protect Day 28 simulation and Day 30 light closure.
Add transfer, not more rereading
- Choose mixed questions from a different unit.
- Redo an old error in new wording.
- Explain a graph or experiment without calculations.
- Use the formula sheet to state conditions and units from memory.
30-day AP Physics 2 study questions
How many hours per day should I study?
About 90–150 focused minutes is a practical target for this plan. If you have only 45–60 minutes, keep retrieval, one targeted practice set and correction; reduce volume before removing correction.
Does this plan cover every topic?
Yes. Days 2–27 explicitly cover Topics 9.1 through 15.8, while Day 1 diagnoses and Days 28–30 shift into full-course simulation, repair and final consolidation.
Should I take a full exam every week?
Not necessarily. During a 30-day repair plan, topic and unit evidence usually gives more useful feedback early. The full model exam is intentionally placed near the end after the course has been reviewed.
What if one unit is much weaker than the others?
Use the daily plan as the coverage spine, then spend extra practice time on that unit. Do not erase all other units from the month because mixed transfer still matters.
Can I start this plan on any date?
Yes. Use the date control above to label every day. If you are exactly one month from your target exam, leave at least the final evening for light consolidation rather than a second exhausting full simulation.
What counts as completing a day?
Complete the assigned concept block, attempt practice, and correct the misses. Reading or watching content without producing evidence does not count as complete in this tracker.
