AP Physics 1 30-Day Study Plan 2027
A month is long enough to repair the complete course if each block ends with evidence. Do not advance just because you read the lesson—advance when topic practice shows the model is stable.
What does AP Physics 1 30-Day Study Plan 2027 cover?
A 30-day AP Physics 1 study plan for 2027 covering all eight units, topic practice, labs, released FRQs, model papers, error logging and final exam simulation.
- Built for the current AP Physics 1 course and May 2027 exam.
- Uses direct definitions, examples and internal routes to deeper lessons.
- Last content review: August 31, 2026.
Kinematics + diagnostics
Complete Unit 1 topic checks, graph translation and one focused lab. End Day 5 with mixed Unit 1 MCQs and one FRQ.
Open study blockForce & Translational Dynamics
FBDs, Newton’s laws, friction, springs, circular motion and one force-data experiment.
Open study blockWork, Energy & Power
System boundaries, work-energy, potential energy, conservation and power.
Open study blockLinear Momentum
Momentum, force-time area, conservation and collision classification.
Open study blockRotation
Rotational kinematics, torque, inertia, equilibrium, rotational energy, angular momentum and rolling.
Open study blockOscillations + Fluids
SHM period/representations/energy plus density, pressure, buoyancy and continuity/Bernoulli/Torricelli.
Open study blockReleased FRQ synthesis
Work recent released FRQs, tag every missed model, and repair the exact topic.
Open study blockFull model papers
Take two full 42-MCQ + 4-FRQ simulations with realistic pacing.
Open study blockError-log closure
Review only unresolved mistakes, equations/units, graph meanings and exam workflow; do not start a new major topic.
Open study blockDaily 90–150 minute template
- 20–35 min: concept/representation repair.
- 30–45 min: targeted MCQs with explanations.
- 25–40 min: one FRQ part or full FRQ with self-grading.
- 10–20 min: error log—write the model-selection mistake, not merely the right answer.
AP Physics 1 diagnostic study plan
Start by taking a short mixed-topic diagnostic in timed conditions. Tag each mistake as a conceptual model error, force-diagram error, algebra error, unit conversion problem or evidence/justification issue. A low score on a single question set is not enough to diagnose an entire unit.
Thirty-minute improvement cycle
Spend ten minutes reconstructing the correct model from a diagram or graph, ten solving two new problems, and ten explaining why the two correct solutions work. Track whether errors recur across different contexts. For mechanics, alternate free-body diagrams with energy or momentum representations. For oscillations and fluids, ask what is conserved and what external forces act on the system.
Worked checkpoint: momentum
A 2 kg cart moving right at 3 m/s joins a stationary 1 kg cart on a frictionless track. If they stick together, momentum conservation gives (2)(3)+(1)(0)=(3)v so v=2 m/s right. Kinetic energy is not conserved in the sticking collision; assuming it is would contradict the physical model.
Use a timed simulation of the 2027 format—42 MCQs in 85 minutes and four FRQs in 95 minutes—but practise concepts without timing before introducing time pressure. Review mistakes with a new data set after two days.
Independent practice; College Board AP Central used for 2027 exam format.
