Estimate Staircase Materials, Labor and Total Cost
Estimate straight, L-shaped, U-shaped, spiral, exterior and concrete stair projects. Separate structure, treads, risers, railings, landings, demolition, finish, labor, waste, overhead and contingency.

Staircase cost estimate
Staircase and concrete-steps cost calculation
The calculator estimates geometric quantities first, then multiplies them by user-supplied material and labor rates. Wood, steel and composite stairs use tread, riser, support and railing quantities. Concrete mode estimates a solid stepped mass, formwork surface and reinforcement allowance.
Concrete steps cost mode
Concrete step volume uses width × rise × run × n(n+1)/2 for a solid stepped staircase. Material cost, formwork, reinforcement, labor, delivery and overhead remain separate so users can replace assumptions with local quotes.
Renovation and painting
Renovation and paint-only scopes reduce structural quantities but retain demolition, labor and finishing inputs. Custom, floating, curved and glass stairs often require engineered supplier pricing beyond a preliminary calculator.
Why is staircase cost different from stair angle?
Stair angle is geometry. Cost also depends on materials, railings, landings, labor, demolition, finish, access, permits and design complexity.
Can I estimate an exterior staircase?
Yes. Exterior mode increases exposure and framing complexity but you should still enter exterior-rated material prices and local labor.
Does this approve a stair design?
No. Structural design, rise/run limits, headroom, guards, handrails, landings and permits require project-specific code review.
