How to use the physics formula solver
Search by formula name, physical concept, branch, symbol or variable description. After selecting a formula, mark one variable as unknown, enter the remaining values and choose the unit beside each value. The calculator converts the known quantities to SI, solves the selected relation and converts the result into the requested answer unit.
Automatic constants and reference values
Equations involving the gravitational constant, speed of light, Planck constant, elementary charge, vacuum permittivity, Boltzmann constant, gas constant or standard gravity display those constants automatically. A constant is shown in the variable list so the user can see exactly what entered the calculation.
Compatible unit selection
Each quantity receives only units belonging to its dimension. Length variables cannot be assigned mass units, and voltage variables cannot be assigned time units. Affine temperature conversions are handled separately from multiplicative SI conversions.
Formula assumptions and valid domains
Physics formulas are models with assumptions. The selected formula card and solution report state common restrictions such as constant acceleration, ideal-gas behavior, small-angle approximation, thin-lens geometry or non-relativistic motion. A numerically valid value does not remove those physical conditions.
Physics branches covered
Scope: the library is broad and searchable, but physics contains specialized equations whose use depends on a particular model, material, geometry or convention. Unsupported formulas should be added as verified entries rather than invented from a question.
Physics formula solver questions
Can I solve for any variable in a formula?
Every non-constant variable can be selected as the unknown. Direct rearrangements are used where defined; otherwise the calculator uses a controlled numerical root solver and reports the method.
Does it use SI units only?
No. Inputs include SI, common scientific, Imperial and US customary units where appropriate. Calculations use SI internally to keep the equation consistent.
What happens when an equation has more than one mathematical root?
The calculator reports the selected principal physical root and warns when another root may exist. Constraints such as positive length or non-negative energy are applied where the physical quantity requires them.
Are calculations sent to another website?
No. The formula library, unit conversion, root solving, diagrams and relationship graph run from files contained in the plugin.
