The grade calculator supports points, weighted assignments and target planning. In weighted mode, each score is normalized by its possible points before its percentage weight is applied, so assignments with different point totals remain comparable. The current grade excludes any future item from the earned-weight denominator; the target solver then determines the score needed on that item to reach the selected course percentage.
Check syllabus rules before relying on the result
The grade calculator does not invent missing institutional policies. Extra credit, dropped scores, category caps, curved grades and minimum-exam requirements can change the official result even when the arithmetic is correct. Enter weights as they appear in the syllabus and verify that they total the intended percentage. A required score above 100% means the target is not reachable under the entered model without extra credit or a policy change, while a negative required score means the target has already been secured mathematically.
Do weights need to total 100 percent?
Completed rows do not need to total 100. The calculator normalizes the current grade and separately tracks their final-course contribution.
Can the required remaining score exceed 100 percent?
Yes. That result indicates the selected target is not reachable without extra credit or changed weights.
How are letter grades assigned?
