Bust–Waist–Hip Calculator

Proportion and clothing-fit tool

Compare Bust, Waist and Hip Measurements Visually

Enter shoulders, bust, natural waist, high hip and full hip measurements. The calculator shows every ratio, compares upper and lower proportions and displays exactly where each tape measurement belongs.

Your measurements

Upper-body reference

Where to place the tape

  1. Keep the tape level and comfortably close to the body.
  2. Measure the bust at its fullest point and the waist at the narrowest natural point.
  3. Measure full hips around the widest part of the seat; high hip is higher and optional.

Proportion results

What this bust–waist–hip calculator measures

The result is a descriptive proportion estimate for clothing, pattern adjustment and measurement tracking. It is not a diagnosis, a beauty score or a health judgment. Two people with the same circumferences can have different frames, posture and weight distribution.

How to tell what body shape your measurements suggest

The calculator first compares the selected upper reference with full hips, then measures how strongly the waist is defined. Balanced upper and lower measurements with a notably smaller waist are described as hourglass-like. A larger lower measurement is described as triangle or bottom-balanced; a larger upper measurement is described as inverted triangle or top-balanced. When the waist is close to the upper and hip measurements, the result is described as straight or round depending on the ratios.

Why shoulders are optional

Some body-shape systems rely only on bust, waist and hips, while others use shoulders to represent frame width. Providing shoulders allows both views. The calculation explicitly states which upper reference it used.

Frequently asked questions

What order are measurements written in?

Bust–waist–hips, such as 36–28–38. Shoulder and high-hip values are additional measurements.

Can I use centimeters?

Yes. Ratios are unitless, so the classification is the same when all measurements use the same unit.

Does this calculate BMI or body fat?

No. Circumference proportions do not calculate body mass index or body-fat percentage.

Are my measurements saved?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and the plugin does not transmit or store the values.
