Date Calculator for Differences and Date Math

Measure the exact time between two dates or add and subtract calendar units from a starting date. The calculator separates elapsed days, calendar years-months-days, weekdays and U.S. federal business days, while handling leap years and month-end clamping explicitly.

Date difference and business-day guide

This date calculator provides a dedicated calculation workflow rather than a generic converter. Date calculations can mean elapsed time, an inclusive day count, a calendar age-like difference or a working-day count. This tool reports these concepts separately so one result is not mistaken for another.

Elapsed days versus inclusive days

Elapsed days measure the interval from the start date to the end date. Inclusive counting adds one day so both calendar dates are counted, which is useful for schedules that include the first and last day.

Calendar years, months and days

The calendar breakdown advances whole years and months without passing the end date, then counts the remaining days. It therefore differs from simply dividing total days by 365 or 30.

Business-day calculation

Weekdays exclude Saturday and Sunday. The federal-holiday option also excludes observed dates for the standard U.S. federal holiday set, including holidays observed on an adjacent Friday or Monday.

Adding months safely

Adding one month to January 31 cannot produce February 31. The calculator clamps the result to the last valid day of February, then continues with any week or day adjustment.

Why UTC date arithmetic is used

Browser date-times can shift by an hour around daylight-saving changes. Treating inputs as calendar dates at UTC midnight keeps a one-day calendar difference equal to one day everywhere.

Does the result include the end date?

Only when the inclusive option is selected. The default reports the elapsed interval.

Are all state and company holidays included?

No. The federal option covers observed U.S. federal holidays; employers and states may use additional schedules.

What happens when adding a month to the 31st?

The day is clamped to the final valid day of the destination month.
