Dice Roller, Counter and Probability Simulator
Roll d4 through d1000, use tabletop keep and reroll rules, count successes, simulate thousands of trials, and inspect every result without an account or remote calculation service.Supported: XdY, kh/kl, +/− modifier, r1, ! and face-success rules such as 10d6>=5.

One dice roller for tabletop games, classrooms and probability trials
Use a single quick die, a d20 advantage roll, a 4d6 keep-highest ability-score roll, a success-counting dice pool, or as many as 10,000 repeated trials. The calculator keeps the live roll visually separate from the statistical summary so a game result is never confused with a simulation average.
Dice notation supported by this calculator
Enter standard notation such as 2d6+3, 4d6kh3, 2d20kl1, 3d8!, 6d6r1, or 10d6>=5. The interface translates the notation into visible controls so users can verify every rule before rolling.
Keep-highest, keep-lowest, rerolling and exploding dice
Each die maintains its own explosion chain. The calculator first completes rerolls and explosions, then compares the completed chain totals for keep-highest or keep-lowest selection. The total modifier is applied only after the kept chains are added.
Dice roller questions
Can this roll custom-sided dice?
Yes. Enter any whole-number side count from d2 through d1000 and roll up to 100 dice per trial.
Can it calculate D&D advantage and disadvantage?
Yes. The preset buttons configure 2d20 keep-highest-one for advantage and 2d20 keep-lowest-one for disadvantage.
How does the success counter work?
Choose whether success applies to each generated face or to the kept total for an entire trial, then select at least, at most, exactly, or turn success counting off.
Are rolls or history sent to a server?
No. Calculation and session history remain inside the current browser page. Resetting or closing the page clears the displayed history.
Dice Roller and Counter: formula-based step-by-step solution
This Dice Roller and Counter worked derivation uses the published default state. Its live formula panel replaces these values whenever an input, unit, mode, date, material, or scenario changes.
Trial total = sum of kept die faces + modifierExpected total for n fair s-sided dice = n × (s + 1) ÷ 2 + modifierExact-face probability per generated die = 1 ÷ sObserved frequency = event count ÷ completed trials
1. Governing formulas and numeric substitution
- Formula 1:
Trial total = sum of kept die faces + modifierDefault-value substitution:Trial total = sum of kept die faces + (0) - Formula 2:
Expected total for n fair s-sided dice = n × (s + 1) ÷ 2 + modifierDefault-value substitution:Expected total for n fair s-sided dice = (1) × (s + 1) ÷ 2 + (0) - Formula 3:
Exact-face probability per generated die = 1 ÷ sDefault-value substitution:Exact-face probability per generated die = 1 ÷ s | current data: Dice per trial=2; Sides per die=6; Number of trials=1; Total modifier=0; Keep rule=all; Number kept=1; Exact face to count=6; Success basis=face - Formula 4:

Dice Roller And Counter: formula, steps, units and verification
dice roller and counter is designed for a transparent calculation rather than a black-box answer. Dice Roller And Counter: roll d4-d1000 dice with notation, d20 advantage, keep highest or lowest, rerolls, exploding dice, success counts, modifiers.
How to use the dice roller and counter in 5 steps
- Choose the required mode. Select the calculation path that matches the quantity you know and the result you need.
- Enter source values. Use measured, documented or assignment values rather than rounded estimates whenever possible.
- Confirm every unit. The dice roller and counter converts supported units before formula substitution, so each selector must describe the entered number.
- Run the calculation. Review the displayed formula, normalized values and numeric substitution before accepting the final result.
- Verify the answer. Reproduce the substitution manually and check whether the output is reasonable for the stated assumptions.
Dice Roller And Counter formula and unit checks
The dice roller and counter keeps source inputs, canonical calculation units and displayed output units separate. This prevents a correct formula from producing a wrong answer because feet were treated as meters, percentages as decimals, or time values as the wrong interval.
For an independent check, copy the formula shown by the calculator, substitute the unrounded canonical values, preserve full precision through intermediate operations and round only the final result. The verified answer should match both the displayed number and its measurement unit.
How to interpret the dice roller and counter result
A result is useful only when its assumptions match the real problem. Compare the answer with expected ranges, inspect any warning or boundary message, and test a nearby input to confirm that the output changes in the direction predicted by the governing relationship.
The dice roller and counter provides an educational and planning result. For regulated, medical, structural, financial, laboratory or safety-critical decisions, verify the inputs and method against the applicable professional requirements before acting.
